What Music Influenced L(O+S)??

Some people have asked me who influences me, or who has influenced me musical?

Well I’m starting off by saying what it do aGents? Then I’ll answer with this: So many artists to choose from but I have to start off with the man! The artist that got to me first Michael Jackson. I can remember in 89 moon walking talking about: “I’m bad; I’m bad you know it you know!” or screaming “YOU KNOCK ME OFF MY FEET NOW BAY BAY! SHA-WOOO!” Ha ha memories. I still hadn’t had the thought of being an artist I just loved the idea of knowing every MJ song and dancing around. I remember singing “Sussudio” over and over again by Phil Collins and just having so much fun listening to Marvin Gaye and the tricked out synthesizer riff from “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. I was happy when Cube and Diddy sampled that sound and made their songs. Enter N.W.A and Wu-Tang nuff said. Slick Rick and Humpty lol.

My next major influences would have to be TuPac Shakar, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg and Bone Thugs and Harmony. I would listen to their cassette tapes for hours in my room rapping every line. I would have to say TuPac and Snoop had the most affect on me as a very angry child. I embraced Tupac’s rage vs. Biggie, I was pretty much on the whole West Coast over east crip walking on you fools lol. Then, came the Fugees, the Outlaws, and TLC. I was so in love with T-Boz in the beginning then changed members as the years went on lol love them so much! Busta Rhymes and Twista amazed me but I was still reppin’ Bone when it came to that fast rap. Enter No Limit, Msytikal instantly became my favorite rapper when No Limit launched. All I needed was a Mystikal and or Fiend CD and a cigarillo and it was on. BLUNTed! Mystikal had so much passion in his words screaming “HERE I GO! YOU LOOKING FA’ ME! Or THE MAN RIGHT CHERE!” By this time I was rapping myself and was experimenting with various styles from fast to slow, south swag. I noticed at a very young age I could imitate various rapping styles and sound just like any artist out. I used this advantage and still do to move crowds. It’s like every rapper alive I’m him.
My next influence and the artist that affected my life the most would be Eminem. Here is someone that felt exactly how I felt, neglected by his father and was enraged and expressed it in a lovely way. I was hooked. I then dabbled with Blink 182, KoRn, and Limp Bizkit. But when I got introduced to Linkin Park I then knew I wanted to be an artist on tour, they amazed me and made me want to be on stage. Mike Shinoda became my biggest idol, mixed in with Eminem I was the next star on the rise. I would write and freestyle for hours, their guitar riffs and uses of different sounds made me feel free as a bird flying and I would be in a daze.

Ludacris’s and Joe Budden’s world play and expression made me pay attention to word play the most.
Then I went through a phase where I only listened to my music, I threw all my CD’s away and would only listen to myself. A few years later I became a born again Christian and was introduced to Christian Rap or Holy hip hop, which I thought was a joke. But Flame and Da T.R.U.T.H quickly changed my mind; I was so impressed by how they mixed their beliefs, passions, frustrations, and views in their music. It encouraged me to rap as a Christian, to take everything I’ve learned from MJ to Flame and just go!

Braille and Lecrae quickly became major influences in my now smooth and confident music career. They stand alone in their own right. Eminem resurfaced and taught me more as well as Busta Rhymes.

Now days I really don’t consider myself in a specific genre I just make music. Christian point of view, but I often reflect on when I wasn’t a Christian to grab that mind set and emotion. I’m about to wrap this up I know I missed a lot of influences Lauryn Hill, B.O.B, Outkast, and others but I left them out to make sure I got the meat of the meal to you. Hope you enjoyed my little rant on music history. I think I should make this a series and break it down by decade or even every five years so I can get more into what music created L(O+S) what you think?

Until next time aGents!

Sincerely The DuDe,

L(O+S)

R we truly sons?

aRe we truly sons of God? oR are we strag-alongs. Do we have the power of the divine. oR are we no t even in His mind? Do u even believe that He is all that He says He is. oR is he genie waiting 2 grant your wish. Will you be Holy or filthy, guilty or free? Is He a liar or is He your majesty?
Are u a son or an enemy, friend or are you enmity? Blind, or can you truly see? I know that I am what He wants me to be. And that's a son, so a son I am indeed  - L(O+S)

The one Man band: The battle of Wits

The producer, the artist, the executive, the visionary, the marketer, the publisher, and the graphics tech. All this in one man, all fighting to make their mark. To stand tall above the crowd. Not let's not 4get the spiritual side of the same man. With all this in him he sometimes defeats himself. Trying to find balance between himself. Knowing that the futures bright. He tends to block his own spotlight. Drawing from many sources, but yet only one leads his call. Another one intefers with destiny hoping the band would cave in, fall. But the band moves on leaving him lost in the wind. But the band moves on... And this, is how... The story begins... **Music drops**

Lecrae "Rehab" Murks charts

Rehab… We all need it… Lecrae takes us on a musical ride of rehabilitation. He states that we are all addicted so something, whether that something is sex, drugs, thug life, or being a liar. He touches many frames of life and teaches how to deal with it under Christian principles. Not the religious views of Christianity but the real views of everyday life. Pretty much saying no one is perfect and we all need work but Christ is the one that teaches us daily on how to be more complete. This album features guest appearances from Sonny Sandoval of P.O.D, J.R of So Hot Productions, Flame of Clear sight Music, and many of his label mates of Reach Records. Rehab Debuted #1 on iTunes in US, UK, Australia, and Canada. Pushing down some of the more marketed and air played artist such as Eminem’s “Recovery” & Drake’s “Thank me Later”. These albums where pushed down to number 2 and 3 spots earlier this summer by Lecrae’s label mate Trip Lee when his album Between Two Worlds debuted. Here is where they sit today in the US of A: #1 Lecrae “Rehab” #2 Beastie Boys “Licensed to Ill” #3 Drake “Thank me Later” #4 Trip Lee “Between two Worlds” #5 Eminem “Recovery”. It also appears as I was writing this Rehab just claimed the #1 spot in New Zealand, #3 in Finland Most people know that when a new album comes out your old album sales increase. That being said the # 7 spot on US iTunes Hip-Hop Albums charts is none other than Rebel. Rebel is the 2008 ground breaking Christian Hip-Hop album that smashed records I give this album 4 out of 5 stars. The same ranking I gave Recovery by Eminem. http://www.apple.com/euro/itunes/cha...hopalbums.html

Between Two Worlds- Trip Lee

TripLee's Junior album "Between Two Worlds" is one of the most anticipated Christian Hip-hop albums of the year. Which is sure to go further than his sophomore album "20/20" which landed his music video "Real Vision" on 106 & Park as the new joint of the day and debut on iTunes #3 in Mainstream Hip-Hop.

Trip Lee released this statement on the upcoming album:

The response to 20/20 was more than I could have asked for. I heard so many stories about how God used the album in the lives of the listeners. The stories range from people just being helped through rough days, to people trusting Christ for the very first time. That blows me away! I want to thank everyone for all the support. But, it's time for a new chapter and a brand new album.
After 8 months of prayer, hard work, and God's grace, my third album is ready to be released. My latest project will release June 22 and is entitled 'Between Two Worlds.' I can't even express how excited I am about the project and I can't wait for people to hear it.
While 20/20 was devoted to helping people see God properly, B2W is devoted to helping people see life in a broken world properly (the way God sees it). The album is in many ways a collection of reflections on life in our fallen world. It's meant to celebrate the good things, be real about the difficult things, and look hopefully towards the solution. It's not meant to be a comprehensive study on life in a fallen world, only reflections on some of the things that were on my heart. It's almost like a reality show, not depicting just my life, but all of our lives. And my desire was for all of my reflections to be rooted in a biblical worldview. So I talk about human limitations, friendships, even music, but of course from a Christian perspective.
I chose the title 'Between Two Worlds' because that is where I find myself. And the cover is meant to reflect that reality. Not only am I fallen, but I live in a world that is fallen, interacting with fallen people and fallen situations. However, as a believer my citizenship is in Heaven (Philippians 3:20-21) and I look to the day when Jesus will "recreate" His creation. So while I seek to navigate life in this world, I look forward to the new Heaven and new Earth (Revelation 21). But until I get there, I worship and follow the Hero who already saved the day.
